The Westfield High School Gymnastics Team is rich in building a tradition of excellence. We believe that "fun" through discipline is what makes our program so special.The Bombers continue to build strong teams that work together and are rich in character. Winning is not as important as the effort it takes to get there. Effort is the key to reach goals and then everything else will follow. The Coaches strive to teach lessons that will last a lifetime. Head Coach Joanne Hewins and Assistant Head Coach Eric Wallis have over 40 years of combined gymnastics coaching experience between them. They have coached one of the most consistent gymnastics teams in Western Massachusetts. Over the last five years they have had two second place finishes, one third place finish and one first place finish at the Western Mass Championships. During that same period they have had three second place finishes in the PVIAC regular season and one third place finish. Westfield has totaled 76 wins over the last five years (1999-2003), the most of any team in Western Massachusetts. Westfield set a PVIAC Western Massachusetts and School team scoring record in 2003 with a score of 138.975. Westfield is pleased to have Jen Vaschak join the coaching team. She was an outstanding gymnast and competed in National Meets as well as a former Western Mass Vaulting Champion. She recently graduated from St. Michaels college in Vermont where she was on the diving team. Westfield set another record at the 2004 Sectional Championship with a team score of 140.125. The Bombers had another outstanding 13-1 overall PVIAC record and earned another 1st Place Sectional Championship trophy.
